It’s been one whole year of sharing and showing love, and what better day to celebrate it than Valentine’s Day! The 14th of February 2022 was when we celebrated our first anniversary and we’re blown away by how faithful God has been to the cause that He laid on our hearts.
We commemorated the occasion with a 4-day celebration during which we paid visits to the families of the children that are sponsored through The Good Purpose Project. It was a fun, heart-warming, full team affair. The project manager, project administrator, logistics officer, public relations officer and myself (director/founder), made our way to and through the areas of Otinibi, Amrahia, Adenta, Dana, Aarina, Abokobi, Airport Squatters, Nungua, Mamba, Nima, Agbogba, Kisseman, Christian Village, Kutunse, Ashaiman, Chokor, Jamestown, Achimota, Alogboshie, Pantang and Accra Yam Market. It was a lot of work, but so well worth it.
At every home on our list, we spent time with each sponsored child and examined their environments to make sure that they were benefitting from everything that their sponsorship makes possible. We also engaged with all of the parents that are either unemployed, or don’t make enough money to adequately take care of their families, to find out their employment interests and discuss ways in which we can help empower them with the necessary skills and training. We were also able to donate vegetable oil and a bag of rice to every family.
Of course, their education is an equally important part of their wellbeing. We visited the schools of each child and spoke to their teachers about their progress and behaviour. The feedback was very encouraging all round. It’s such a beautiful thing to see the impact of reaching out to those in need.
In meeting with all the families and teachers, we also listened to how they feel we can improve our efforts as an organisation, what changes we may need to make and how we can better assist the children and families that are sponsored.
It is our earnest prayer that in the months to come, we will be able to raise funds to assist the unemployed and struggling parents, with training and financial support that will set them up to become self-sufficient and able take pride in providing for themselves and their families.
