Millicent and her family live in a wooden structure at Zongo in the Kokomba market, close to Abossey Okai. Her father used to sell yams at the Kokomba market to provide for the family. Sadly, his business collapsed after he had to spend all of his savings on hospital bills following a car accident that he was lucky to survive. His business collapsed as a result and he’s been out of work since. Millicent’s mother, Yaa Dawbo, has been trying to sustain the family by also selling yam. The little that Millicent’s mum makes from this is the family’s sole source of income. Millicent is not regular in school because of her family’s financial challenges.
